Hola, Mi nombre es Carlos Cardenas-Peralta,
I am a 2nd Year Dental Student & active advocate for the well being of the latinx community
I was born in Ecuador and moved to the USA at the age of twelve. I was undocumented/DACA for 7 & 4 years respectively. I lived through the needs of the Hispanic and latinx community. I faced many challenges in order to have a higher education.
Although life was hard, I am currently in a better position to extend my hand to the vulnerable immigrant, and latinx community.
Along with LMSA I look forward to reaching out and educating families about overall health as well as gaining more leadership skills.

Hola! My name is Emilse Almanza and I am a second year medical student here at UConn. I grew up in Fairfield, CT but something people may not know about me is that I was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Although Spanish was my first language, my goal as a future physician is to expand my medical Spanish skills so that I can better communicate with Hispanic patients. My involvement in LMSA has allowed me to carry out my passion for serving the Latino/Hispanic community. It has not only provided me the opportunity to teach our campus community about Latinx culture but to also learn from my peers as well.
